Disney Plus says it got more than 10 million subscribers on its first day, far more than had been expected.
Disney has invested billions of dollars in its streaming service, which is offering original content including short films by Pixar, a live-action version of the animated Disney classic Lady and the Tramp, and a Star Wars series The Mandalorian.
The service costs $7 a month or $70 a year after a 7-day free trial. Disney didn’t say where its subscribers were or how much they had paid, but some analysts had thought it would take a year for Disney Plus to reach 10 million subscribers.
