Social media company Pinterest says it will try to fight misinformation about vaccines by only showing its users information from health organizations.
Searches on Pinterest for “measles,” “vaccine safety,” and words and phrases like those will only bring users to results from groups like the World Health Organization (WHO) and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Pinterest won’t show ads or other users’ posts, as they may contain misinformation.
“We’re taking this approach because we believe that showing vaccine misinformation alongside [information] from public health experts isn’t responsible,” the company said in a blog post.
