According to YourDictionary, Parallel Structure or Parallelism means using the same pattern of words to show that two or more words or ideas are of equal importance.

Ex:

  • Incorrect: “I like to read, writing, and painting.”
  • Correct: “I like reading, writing, and painting.”

 

Other Examples:

  1.  I do not enjoy thinking and running.
  2.  She likes to look but not to listen.
  3. We wondered who he was and what he was doing here.
